Biography

The DUO JUCORDA was founded in 2011 at the “Franz Liszt” University of Weimar and studied first in the chamber music class of Prof. Matthis Christoph and then with Prof. Christiane Spannhof. The young musicians Judith Beschow and Juliane Byrenheid share a common passion: the music of the Austrian composer and guitarist C.J. Mertz – a contemporary of Schubert, who show the language of romantic music on the guitar. Their repertoire is also multi-faceted and encompasses works of various character from different epochs of musical history. In March 2014 they were able to reach the first prize at the youth competition for guitar ensembles Gevelsberg in the category “Studierende an einer Musikhochschule”.

Since then they have been performing regularly in concerts and, in early 2021, released their first CD “Ständchen” with selected duo works by C.J. Mertz on original instruments of that time.
